Prioritising is agreeing what not to do yet. A method does not make the decision; it makes the reasons visible so the team can argue about the right things.
Written as practical advice. Where a step rests on established research practice, the source is listed under References. Nothing here is a universal rule.
What makes something worth doing here: user impact, effort, risk, reach. Agree before looking at the items.
Impact against effort for a quick sort. A scorecard when there are several criteria. Must, should, could, won't when scope has to be cut.
People score alone, then compare. Otherwise the first voice sets every number.
Where scores differ is where people know different things. That conversation is the point.
Write down what was chosen, what was not, and the reason. The reasons are what you will need in three months.
Senior designer note“If nothing came off the list, you did not prioritise.”
